Sporting Wishes come true.....
Sporting Wish comes true for 9 year old Lemar "...nothing could have matched it" Mum tells us.
Lemar had his Sporting Wish come true as he got to lead out World Cup winner and 2 time FIFA World player of the year Ronaldinho out at Wembley for England v Brazil.
Lemar was diagnosed with Leukaemia a couple of years ago and has since shown incredible bravery and determination whilst going through treatments such as cell blasts, chemotherapy and steroids, and fully deserved his Sporting Wish.
A lover of football with ambitions of becoming a professional player one day our contacts with The FA, were more than happy to enable us to make this special occasion happen.
Back in January, we visited Lemar at the Peterbrough City Hospital to break the news that he was going to get the once in a lifetime opportunity to walk out with the Brazil players for their forthcoming fixture with England. Where better to find out something amazing was going to happen to you?!
From there, we put the plans in place and arranged for Co-Founder Richard Philp to visit his school on the day of the game and do a special assembley. "We all feel Lemar is actually a real inspiration to other children, and to make this special Sporting Wish come true is a real privilege for Sports Connections Foundation".
His whole school waved him off as he departed with his Mum and Dad to Wembley Stadium in a gleaming stretched limousine we had arranged, with local TV cameras and newspapers all making him feel like a star.
Lemar then got to see behind the scenes at Wembley, before the magic moment of lining up in the players tunnel waiting for the football stars to come out of their dressing rooms.
We had not told Lemar which player he would be walking out with, but his Mum had told us he hoped it was either Ronaldinho or Neymar, so you can imagine the thrill Lemar felt when it was none other than Ronaldinho, who was making his 100th cap for Brazil.
His Mum told us "When he found out, he thought it was a dream and loved every minute of it"
When we asked her what this Sporting Wish means, she went on to say " This means everything to Lemar and the rest of the family, nothing could have matched it".
